Ambassador Vivian Bercovici

Ambassador Vivian Bercovici served as Canada’s ambassador to Israel from 2014 to 2016, where she served with distinction. Prior to being named ambassador, Bercovici was trained and practiced as a corporate lawyer and litigator. She also was a regular columnist for the Toronto Star newspaper. In her diplomatic post, Ambassador Bercovici was an honest, passionate defender of Canada’s close relationship with Israel, a partnership which she helped strengthen in her 30 months on the job.

Being Canada’s ambassador to Israel wasn’t just a job – it was an incredibly important role which Ambassador Bercovici took to heart. “I go and I do my job with gusto and every ounce of energy I have every day,” she told the Canadian Jewish News in an interview as ambassador.

Her passion and commitment to Israel and the Jewish people makes her an ideal honouree.
